I will try that toilet paper roll hack although I’m switching from grommet style to another

I’m so tired of people saying carpet in the kitchen and bathroom is out. No one does this. If anything, there’s a couple random rentals that maybe still have it from a million years ago, but no one puts carpet in the bathroom anymore

I don't know if this guy has anything new wisdom to impart, but I find his calm voice very soothing.

Open plan kitchen - living rooms become quite tiresome even for people who originally love them and can deal with them at first. Its not just the reality of kitchen food prep and cooking: smells/vapours (however delicious!) and grease will just transfer into your living room, particularly on any soft furnishings. It's ALSO your kitchen appliances large and small. Depending on what you're used to in your country, your kitchen might have a dishwasher, washing machine/dryer and other small appliances like food processors or blenders. Those things make NOISE. Wash cycles for both dishes and laundry tend to be 30+ mins standard, probs closer to 1 hour. If you're thinking of an open-plan kitchen because you want to capitalise on small space, you'll need to think very carefully about how you'll mitigate against those disturbances (if at all possible). Maybe you're in a very high cost of living area so those compromises are unavoidable. But just food for thought for those that have the option between open or more closed-plans from the outset.

I wish you could redecorate my place. I have the money but I have so many hobbies that it takes over everything. I wish I could find a way to make my living room area more aesthetic but it's hard with all of my art/fishing/music/cooking supplies everywhere.

I'm a senior and have had to work with diminishing physical capabilities. The hardest challenge is storage and retrieval in deep base cabinets. Risers don't help with difficulties in bending, kneeling, or crawling into these deep spaces. One thing that DOES help is installing roll-out interior shelves; these are available in varying cabinet depths and adjustable widths. Another is using large volume plastic bins, which will slide easily out across base cabinet shelves. Joseph Joseph is a great source for organizational aids. One last piece of advice for space organizing: Try to upcycle old containers and packaging before sending money for commercially available organizational aids. -Classico uses canning jars (temperature-change tolerant) to package their sauces; save and reuse them for dry goods and fridge storage -Cardboard packaging (cereals/snacks/juices/milk) can be altered to corral and organize in drawers and on shelves -Paper bags and boutique bags can be folded in to fit available space and/or strengthen their sides for containment -Lidded containers (shoe boxes, electronics packaging, and food tins) are worth their weight in gold Using these upcycled materials will allow you to work out the exact size, shape, and volume you need; later, if you still choose, you can match dimensions with commercially manufactured containers that have worked for you in the space you live in.

Using a barn door on a bathroom is usually becuse it saves space and will make a bathroom accessible by eliminating the door swing and sharing wheelchair turnaround space with an adjecent space like a hallway. It's not a trend.

Hotels… yes! I’ve used them for lighting inspiration especially. They always have the best sconces and soft lighting 🙂 I always tell people who are moving to stage their home like a hotel. Hotels understand how to make you feel comfortable yet also make it inviting for everyone.

Use green masking tape, not blue. Blue tape can tear off paint and or wallpaper.

I love trays big and small. I use them to hold items in kitchen, on coffee/side tables, bathroom counters, and top of chest (jewelry etc.). I organize my clothing items based on seasons and types. If i want a pair of shorts I know exactly where to find it. My mom is my opposite. She never organizes after laundry. She just put things away into empty space. She always complains about not having enough to wear or cannot find something. I organize her clothing items based on types and seasons. A few months later it’s chaos again.

About the Norden table, it's great in terms of space and I like that it's wood so don't mind the weight. The problem is that the "gate legs" make it very awkward to sit comfortably, as it divides the legroom into lop-sided triangles, so that's something that's worth keeping in mind, especially if you or your guests are tall, big, or have health or mobility issues that require accomodation.

My kids put stuff where it doesn't belong all the time. They do not feel inclined to put things where they belong. I even took pictures of how cupboards and shelves should look, printed those photos and posted them on the inside of the cupboard doors and behind the items on the shelves.

I have had laminate counters in my kitchen for over 20 years. One small nick, hardly noticeable. Easy to keep clean and affordable. The pattern is very forgiving and stains, dealt with immediately, do not set in.

When going for a shower niche or ledge, please, please, please, MAKE IT INCLINED A BIT toward the shower. I have a ledge on my bathroom, and it's good, nice, big, and... flat. It is ALWAYS wet, and impossible to get dry. That's horrible especially considering that a few degrees would be impossible to notice but make it really better.

How do I know if my items of furniture are going to compliment each other?

I think you missed one thing off your list of things in a room; paperwork. That is a big struggle for me. I tried the different techniques to keep it in one place, but it still just builds up and the important stuff gets lost in the overwhelm and doesn’t get done.

What’s the best linen for cats? My cat has snagged many of my sheets with her nails and she recently ripped my sheets when she tried to bite my feet under the blankets. I’ve tried so many different type of materials but still haven’t found anything that can stand up to a cat.
